What is the course like?:
This is a very unique place to play golf during the winter months in Alaska. There are eight electronic machines that simulate any course you wish to play, using your own golf clubs. You may program the machine to play Pebble Beach, Doral, or any other course you desire. The simulator stations are 24' x 14', with the screen the golfers hit into measuring 10' x 14'. The images that appear on the screen are real photographs of real golf courses, not computer simulated images. The height, direction, slice or hook of the shot is detected by three cameras and processed. Golfers may actually hit other golfers, carts, and trees with errant shots, all the while being accompanied by realistic audio noises. Fees are charged by the hour and by the number of players.

Course description:
The course was built in 1998. This is the first regulation course in southeast Alaska. The area provides scenic views, challenging holes, and scores of wildlife. This course was built on the wild lands of Alaska and offers any golfer a challenging round. The signature hole is #9, a 325-yard, par 4, which has a 30-foot high rock that blocks any view of the green and can only be overcome with an iron. The entire course offers the Alaska "badlands," which according to an employee, has nothing bad about them. Another point of interest is the fact that this course is located in Wrangell, which is an Island off the southern point of Alaska. The local airport is twenty miles from the course, for those travelers who have a long layover. Jerry Bakeberg designed the course. This course has 9 holes. The course includes waterhazards.

The course was built in 1990. This Scottish links-style course is famous because of its scenic location that is highlighted by views of humongous glaciers. Even though the fairways are wide open because there aren't many trees, you still must contend with the standard cut of rough defining their borders. In addition, the Matanuska River flows alongside the course and comes into play on seven holes. The signature hole is #6, a 350-yard, par 4, because it offers a breathtaking view of the Knik Glacier from off its green. Another aspect that makes this course a great place to visit is the nearby airport that accommodates small aircraft. Many people from all around the world enjoy flying over and playing this well-maintained course. If you call the pro shop in advance, they will be happy to send someone over to pick you up from the airport and deliver you to the course.
