Six-S Golf Course

Course description:
The course opened in 1996. This facility offers two regulation eighteen hole courses. These two very scenic courses are well maintained. The West Course features flower beds alongside all the ladies' tee boxes. The fairways are wide open on the front nine and tight on the back nine. The East Course is flat and easy to walk. Water hazards (ponds) come into play on almost every hole. Colorado Blue Spruce trees line the fairways of both courses. The signature hole on the West Course is #13, a 290-yard, par 4, requiring an approach shot through a timber boundary line to a small green. Ladies tee off from the same set of tees as the men when playing the East Course. The East Course's scorecard doesn't show handicaps for individual holes. Rocky Gap Lodge & Golf Resort

How is the course?:
The course was built in 1998. This exquisite resort facility, located in Rocky Gap State Park, offers eighteen holes of challenging golf with its distinctly different front and back nines. This is the only Jack Nicklaus signature course in Maryland. The course is played around a 243-acre lake. Creeks and the lake affect seven holes. The front nine holes feature a parkland design, which is flat and open with some hills. The back nine is a mountain course with some dramatic elevation changes. The fairways are narrow throughout the layout, especially the back nine with its tree-lined fairways. Most of the fairways average twenty yards in width. Hole #16, a 370-yard, par 4, has a fairway with a narrow corridor of merely twelve yards. Like the fairways, the greens are very narrow in dimension. They feature interesting slopes and offer significant undulation. There is an abundance of double-tiered greens in the design. With its five sets of tees, this course offers a challenge for all levels of golf play. Jack Nicklaus designed the course. The course has 18 holes. The course includes waterhazards. And has 51-60 sandbunkers.
