Crofton Country Club

Course description:
The course was built in 1964. In the past, this club has hosted the State National qualifier and the 1994 Maryland Open. Due to the length of the course, you are advised to bring your long game with you. Also, take note that the greens are larger than they look, which leaves the golfer with the impression that the fairways are tighter than they really are. Water hazards (two creeks and a pond) come into play on several holes. This course opened its clubhouse in 1997 after a $2.5 million renovation. Ed Ault designed the course. Crofton Country Club has 18 holes. The course includes waterhazards. And has 51-60 sandbunkers.

Annapolis Golf Club

How is the course?:
The course opened in 1925. This old, links-style course has deep grass bunkers. The rolling terrain requires greater accuracy into the small, elevated greens, which are surrounded by deep sand bunkers on three sides. This course is considered much more difficult than the scorecard reads. This nine hole course was designed for an eighteen hole round and there are additional sets of tees that can be used when playing eighteen holes. Charles Banks designed the course. This course has 18 holes. The course includes waterhazards. And has 1-10 sandbunkers.

United States Naval Academy Golf Club

What is the course like?:
The course opened in 1940. This course does has sand bunkers scattered throughout the design and a water hazard that comes into play on hole #7. The fairways are narrow with most being tree lined. This terrain is very hilly, so you can expect a few uneven lies. The greens are small, undulating, sloped, and generally fast. The Naval Academy only allows students and their guests to play here. William S. Flynn designed the course. The course has 18 holes. The course includes waterhazards. And has 31-40 sandbunkers.

How is the course?:
The course was built in 1961. This course has large greens, so three putting is a common occurrence. The course is located in a heavily wooded area and features several moderate elevation changes. Compass Pointe Golf Courses

What is the course like?:
The Compasspointe Golf Courses are comprised of four nines (North, South, East & West) playable in a variety of 18-hole combinations. Designed by architect Lindsay Ervin, the first two nines–North & West–opened for play Fall 2003 and the remaining nines–East & South–are scheduled to open in 2004. The North nine is a links style track, and its open, rolling fairways are lined with tall fescue and punctuated by streams, ponds and strategically located bunkers. The West nine is more parkland in design, with tight, tree lined fairways that demand accuracy and proper club selection. The North nine plays from 2,544 to 3,687-yards, and the West nine plays from 2,099 to 3,368-yards. Both nines offer five sets of tees to challenge all skill levels. Night Hawk Golf Center

How is the course?:
The course opened in 1994. This short "pitch and putt" course only features a few hazards. The greens are small, and the fairways are generously open. The terrain is flat and easy to walk. A teaching facility is located on the premises that will provide private or group lessons. The scorecard doesn't show handicaps for individual holes; ladies tee off from the same set of tees as the men. The entire course is lighted for night play. Bill Forthofer designed the course. Night Hawk Golf Center has 9 holes. The course includes waterhazards. And has 11-20 sandbunkers.

Courses at Fort Meade, The

How is the course?:
The course was built in 1950. These are two military courses where a guest must be accompanied by military personnel in order to play. Both courses provide the average golfer the opportunity for scoring a low round. The front nine on the Parks Course is wide open and its greens are large and fast. Two holes have water in play on the Parks Course. The Applewood Course is very tight though, but its greens are small and fast. Water hazards come into play on four holes on the Applewood Course. Heritage Harbour Golf Club

Course description:
The course was built in 1981. This is a nine hole par 3 course that is quite unique. It is located within Heritage Harbour Community, which is rated as the nations 20th best retirement community. The fairways are generous and hilly, and the greens are fast and undulating. The yardage for the men's tees ranges between 80 and 172 yards. The ladies' yardage ranges between 67 and 123 yards.
